The Institute's Goals

At NZGI, our mission is to educate and to elevate.

Our mission is to improve the quality of goalkeeping in New Zealand by elevating the accessibility of quality goalkeeper education on a national scale.

We aim to do this by improving accessibility through providing cheaper alternatives and online services which allows for finances and location to be less of a barrier for goalkeepers to overcome. NZGI is improving the quality of goalkeeper education by providing a joint technical and scientific insights into training, allowing for goalkeepers to have coaches who not only understand the position from past experiences but science and data too. And all of this aligning with New Zealand Footballs official goalkeeping framework too.

We aim to provide resources and services that equip goalkeepers with the ability to independently problem solve, take control of their own development and approach long term goals/objectives effectively. This is done through our scientific framework and analytical approach which provides keepers with actionable insights to uncover the root causes of their performance limitations. With these tools keepers can coach themselves confidently and independently as we believe

Your greatest asset is yourself.

Jordan Lamberton
BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE, B.S.

As my science education progressed so did my understanding and curiosity for goalkeeping. I spent my time researching how the body should move to correctly kick a ball or dive properly, how psychology and relationships influence individual and team performances, how personality and communication can be turned from weaknesses to strengths and so much more.

This all led me to produce a science study on goalkeepers nationally in New Zealand out of self-interest which can be found on the science page.

I've been the lead goalkeeper coach at 2 TDP acadamies: Fencibles, and currently West Coast Rangers. I've had over 6 different goalkeepers who have won the "best goalkeeper" at u11/12/13/15/17/19 national age group tournaments, one GK trains with Auckland FC's men's team weekly and another is currently on a scholarship in the USA.

In my playing career from 2019-2022, I only lost 4 games over a 4 year period, playing 43 games. I also won 4 leagues in this time, playing at u17, u23, and First Team level in these years. Since then I have played for North Shore, Beachlands Maraetai, and Fencibles first teams.

I've recently had the oppotunity to intern with Auckland FC and now Wellington Phoenix, along with coaching for Barcelona. This has given me exclusive experience  on expectations and standards in professional football.
